A Bigger View
Embark on a journey of epic proportions as you immerse yourself in monumental works of art from the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). Made possible through the Australian Government's Sharing the National Collection initiative, this exhibition brings together masterpieces from the NGA alongside major works from our very own collection.Spanning decades and continents, each epic in scale and subject, these artworks demonstrate the various and unique approaches artists take to the landscape.A highlight for visitors will be two artworks created by Henri Matisse (1869 -1954), one of Europe's greatest twentieth-century modernist artists. Accompanying Matisse's uniquely abstracted views of sea and sky forms is an extraordinary work by senior Australian artist, Imants Tillers, presenting a vision of the Australian landscape inspired by Eugene Von Guérard's 1863 masterpiece North-east view from the northern top of Mount Kosciusko, seen here together for the first time. These works will be complemented by stunning works from HOTA's own collection. Uluru by Pintupi artist Long Tom Tjapanangka brings a First Nations perspective of Australia's biggest landmark to the exhibition, and a stunning hinterland painting by beloved Australian artist Wiliam Robinson invites contemplation of the natural world around us.Prepare to be awestruck by the grandeur of these works, as you explore a bigger view.

LIGHT - Group Art Exhibition by 6 Artists
Light is a collective exhibition exploring how artists respond to light in its many forms, natural, emotional, and symbolic.Across painting, fibre art, and ceramics, six artists explore shifting landscapes, personal narratives, and material textures shaped by illumination.Through glowing colour, layered surfaces, and tactile forms, each work reflects a unique way of seeing and experiencing light in the world around us.Zoe Franks presents semi-abstract landscapes capturing nostalgic environments through layered transparent colour, exploring fire, light, and the emotional resonance of place.Cynthia Copley responds to the natural world through expressive, gestural painting, translating her connection to the landscape into works rich with colour and energy.Liz Hampson explores surrealist imagery in a new body of work where natural light, stillness, and imagined environments merge to form poetic, narrative-driven scenes.Working in fibre and weaving, Cindy Wood creates intricate forms from foraged natural materials, reflecting the textures and rhythms of the landscape.Kim Napier brings a lyrical approach to semi-abstract and figurative works, using line and gesture to tell quiet, reflective stories.Cheryl Dundas presents delicate ceramic sculptures exploring character, form, and dream-like narratives.Together, these artists offer varied interpretations of light as illumination, emotion, and a force that shapes how we see and remember the world.
Seems like you've caught us on an R&R day!
