HOTA Collects: Alasdair Macintyre Artist Talk
HOTA Collects: Alasdair Macintyre Artist TalkJoin us for this unique opportunity to hear Queensland artist Alasdair Macintyre talk about his practice and work. Alasdair creates small to large scale sculptures and installations that explore art history, science fiction and mythology, as well as popular culture, comics, toys and nostalgia. He is known for his visual puns and humour, often in the form of small dioramic mise-en-scène and scaled models that intelligently comment on the state of aesthetics, the role of the artist, and the art world at large. Sea World Foundation Ocean Clean Up
Ocean Clean Up is back bigger and bigger than ever! Sea World Foundation is calling on Gold Coast Ocean lovers to help us care for the beautiful Seaway and the wildlife that call it home on Sunday, 22 September 2024. Volunteer to dive below the surface to remove rubbish from our marine ecosystems or contribute to the cause by helping to pick up litter along the shore. Then, celebrate with live music, a mouth-watering barbecue and prizes on this fun day out for all ages. Schedule: 09:30 Registration 10:00 Welcome 10:15 Safety briefing (mandatory) 10:30 Land Clean Up 11:00 Dive Clean Up (high tide 11:18) 12:00 Lunch 13:00 Wrap up Register today and make a difference! Early registration ensures you receive event updates and a free Sea World Foundation wristband if you are among the first 100 registrants. Slow art allows you to immerse yourself in the details and emotions behind each masterpiece, leading to a deeper connection and understanding of the artist's vision. Take your time to savour each brushstroke and colour palette. Immerse yourself in monumental works of art from the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). Made possible through the Australian Government’s Sharing the National Collection initiative. Spend 10-15 minutes in front of each artwork then we'll group and discuss your experience.

Little Farmer Humpty Day - Kids Event
Come along to the camel farm for the school holidays, Little Farmer Humpty Day, and don't forget to dress like a farmer! Your children won’t forget this informative experience at Summer Land Camels as they are taken on a farm tour and introduced to the friendly camels. The 30 minute Kids farm tour includes patting and cuddling the camels, kids' activities and miniature goats. Make sure you bring your camera to get the perfect shot with your favourite camel! Please wear closed in shoes and a smile! While you are here, you can feed the friendly camels, shop around in the Skincare and Souvenir Shop, visit the Homestead Cafe for a delicious breakfast, brunch or lunch and try their famous Camelcino. All their dairy products are also available for purchase straight from the farm, so bring an esky or a cooler bag.
