Nicole Slater: Rose Gold
Nicole Slater: Rose GoldRose Gold is a solo exhibition by Australian artist Nicole Slater, showcasing a series of large-scale equestrian portraits that reflect her deep, lifelong connection to horses. A professional breeder with years of experience, Slater brings an intimate understanding of equine anatomy to her work — knowledge that informs the physical accuracy and presence of each portrait. As a self-taught painter, she combines technical precision with emotional depth. This fusion of lived experience and artistic skill allows her to capture not only the form of her subjects but also their spirit, creating powerful, nuanced representations of the horses she knows so well. Nicole runs a thoroughbred breeding property in rural Victoria with her husband, sporting legend Billy Slater. Together, they care for rescue horses and other animals, living a life surrounded by livestock and native wildlife. This close relationship with animals and the natural environment informs every aspect of Nicole’s art.In Rose Gold, the horse is presented not just as a subject, but as a symbol of memory, light and presence. The warm, fading tones of sunset — Slater’s favourite time of day — become a gentle reminder to pause, reflect and appreciate fleeting beauty. Cooly Carols

Hosted by the Gold Coast's very own Nicka35, the evening will be filled with festive fun and live music from local favourites Chloe Styler, Birren and the Paper Daisies, plus Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary's Blinky Bill Christmas show. This free, family-friendly event is the perfect way to celebrate the festive season. Holding the opening night at HOTA was AJB’s goal & with the talented group of performers, musicians, dancers, DJ’s that AJB has put together – the result is a two-hour explosive night of the songs. Based around The Blue Light Discos from our school days, WHTTD takes you on a journey through the arrival of ‘disco’ music in a period where rock and & country music prevailed. WHTTD follows the ‘disco’ journey thru the seventies & early eighties, including the famous burning of ‘disco’ records thru to the emergence of pop and dance music. All the hits are included from Madonna, Kylie, Whitney, Bros, Rick Astley, Abba, New Order, Cher & many more. Dust of the disco flares, step into your platforms and head to WHTTD where audience participation is essential. Opening Act Groove Dr B I have worked with many artists over my career - Groove Dr B is NOT your typical musician. He is a master chef, cooking up a gumbo of Southern Fried Boogie, Soul Infused Blues with a side dish of good ol’ Aussie Garage Band Rock. Salsa in the Park
Salsa in the Park is an event open to everyone and it is free. It is held at The Porch in Broadwater Parklands, Southport. DJs will play a variety of latin music to keep everyone dancing. There will be a free dancing lesson, followed by two and a half hours of social dancing dancing, or sit, relax, watch and enjoy the music and dancers go about their pace.
