The World Club Challenge Cup is much more than a surf contest and in 2026, they aim to once again produce a kaleidoscope of community, culture and the arts along the full length of the coastline from Kirra, right through to the contest site at Snapper Rocks.While the Usher Cup is and will always remain committed to providing a platform which allows the sport's emerging stars to showcase their talents and take their skills to the next level, in 2026 the contest founders are pleased to welcome more international board riding teams and Australian clubs totalling 31 teams, competing for the Usher Cup World Club Challenge.

Sunroom – Abstract LandscapesThe Sunroom program provides a safe creative space for art-making, creative play and exploration for adults who identify with disability. In February we’re taking inspiration from the works of Bridget Riley in the HOTA Gallery exhibition A Bigger View to create our own abstract landscapes. We’ll explore how shape, colour and composition can communicate a sense of place and atmosphere. No prior art making experience is necessary, only a willingness to engage your imagination, curiosity and sense of play. Recommended for ages 16+.

Jet Black Cat Music Presents TOPS (CA) and Norwegian duo SMERZ on their debut Aus tour. TOPS (CA) — musicians David Carriere, Jane Penny, Marta Cikojevic, and Riley Fleck —write timeless music that reliably threads immediacy and depth. Bury the Key, their first full-length since 2020 and with new label home Ghostly International, is a captivating reintroduction for the Montréal band: ever refined, undoubtedly masters of their melodic craft yet unafraid of evolving and testing themselves against different, at times darker tones. The album faces feelings once locked away, engaging the give-and-take between happiness, hedonism, and self-destruction. SMERZ is the Norwegian duo of Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg, based in Oslo and Copenhagen. The duo released their sophomore album, Big city life, in May this year through Danish label Escho. Using collages to capture moments of everyday life and dreams, Smerz tell stories lived and imagined—of apathy, loneliness and internal monologue, love and friendship. Smerz operates at the intersection of genres, drawing inspiration from compositional techniques in classical music, the experimentation of computer music and the immediacy of pop music, in the palettes of girly existentialism.
