Overview

Come along to the 'Art in the Park' picnic on the gorgeous grounds of HOTA, over by the Lake.

You can bring your own art and craft project, games, or just hang out and eat snacks. There will be an art table, so you can stamp your own Queer-Affirming poster or art.

We'll be on the flat area by the path, and the toilet block is close by. The cafe and gallery are also open.

It's International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination (IDAHOBIT) so that's a nice reason to hang out and have some low-key, inclusive fun together. There'll be some pronoun badges and flyers available to support inclusion.

Gold Coast Pride will be held at this very same location on June 27, so you can get to know the space and public transport options well before the big event.

Who is welcome:

Everyone is welcome to come to the park and make a poster at the printmaking table - It's a public space. Respect is always expected.

The event is being run in collaboration with 'Pride Outside' which welcomes everyone under the queer umbrella (and their allies / friends & families) 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️.

Come picnic alongside us - If you and your crew want to sit nearby in a quieter place and mingle when you choose, that's OK too. We all socialise in our own ways. If you need a people-break you can take a walk around the lake or go play on the exercise equipment.

This is a family and dog-friendly event. We are respectful of all LGBTQIA+ people and their pronouns.
