Overview

Embark on a musical journey to the heart of the wilderness with Where Water Meets, a captivating chamber-folk trio that seamlessly blends folk, world, and classical genres into a cinematic soundscape like no other.

*** Touring after performances at the Woodford Folk Festival ***

Led by the visionary composing team of Emily Sheppard (violin/viola/vox) and Yyan Ng (guitar/shakuhachi/vox), and joined for this tour by co-founder of the Bowerbird Collective, Anthony Albrecht (cello), Where Water Meets pushes the boundaries of a traditional folk ensemble, creating a transformative listening experience.

Join us for an enchanting evening of music inspired by some of Tasmania's most beautiful and untouched places, as Where Water Meets performs selections from their critically acclaimed first album, River Islands, as well as their new album Ashore, all to pieces. Using retuned instruments, ethereal vocals and driving polyrhythms, the trio paints a mesmerising sonic landscape that evokes the beauty and mystery of nature.

Ashore, all to pieces features evocative, energetic and reflective original music, deeply inspired by Tasmanian land and seascapes. The album will be launched at Woodford Folk Festival in 2025/26 followed by Australian and New Zealand tour dates.

From festival stages, orchestral engagements to community arts and science projects, Where Water Meets have been featured at the National Folk Festival, MONA FOMA, Dark MOFO and TedX Hobart. Their music has been commissioned by Big hART, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and VCASS Orchestra.

The performance will last approximately 75 minutes with no interval.

Presented in partnership with the Bowerbird Collective.
