Currumbin Fishing Lesson for all ages
Do your kids want to go fishing but you're not sure what to do? Want to learn how to fish, but feel uncomfortable about it? Send them along to this award-winning program and they will take care of all the tangles, they've had plenty of experience with flying hooks over the past 18 years. They will ease everyone into fishing with this fun and educational activity. Classes are very hands-on, everyone will be shown how to use the equipment and receive help to correct their technique. Squeals of delight (maybe fear) can be heard echoing down the beach when the kids pump up yabbies. You and your family will have a ball learning an awesome life skill, bond and make wonderful memories for the day. Kids and families will learn to read the beach, catch bait with yabby pumps and a bait net, tie a fishing knot, cast a rod and hopefully land a fish. They will pick up plenty of tips to help make their next fishing adventure more successful. This class is for both kids and families. All bait and fishing equipment provided. All staff have blue cards for working with children. Bookings are essential.

Latin Dancing Under the Sails
Social Latin dancing with the best Latin music DJs on the Gold Coast playing a variety of Latin music to get everyone dancing. Open air, outdoors, beautiful venue outside the Oasis shopping centre and surrounded by many restaurants. Open to everyone and it's free. This event is held once a month, usually the last Saturday of the month but this is subject to change. They look forward to seeing you.

Sunday Farm Day’s are a great opportunity to escape the city for a genuine farm experience. These events occur on the last Sunday of every month in Harrisville, a small suburb in the beautiful Scenic Rim - and less than an hour from Brisbane! Sunday Farm Days give kids the chance to have some fun with the animals on a working farm. There is an animal nursery full of baby lambs and goats to feed and play with - and our favourite alpaca George! There is also have a designated chick & duckling holding area and some silkie chickens who love a cuddle! Then there is face painting and pony rides for some extra fun! In case you get hungry, coffee and a sausage sizzle is available, and an ice cream van - perfect for the warm weather. All regular poultry and produce is available as well. With plenty of beautiful green space to enjoy, gather your friends and family, bring your picnic blankets and enjoy a beautiful morning out in the picturesque Scenic Rim!

For each Cocktails with Curators session you will join an intimate group on an exclusive tour of the exhibition, led by a HOTA Curator. At the conclusion of the tour you’ll continue your conversation with an exhibition-inspired cocktail at the Exhibitionist Bar. Each session will focus on one of the featured artists, please note that the artist won’t be present.

Beaudesert Milky Way Masterclass 2024
Do you want to learn night photography to capture the beautiful Milky Way? Join multi-award-winning photographer David Magro for a night under the stars! Beginners and enthusiasts are welcome. The Masterclass takes place in a classroom before spending the night photographing the stars. You will leave with beautiful photographs. Most cameras can photograph the Milky Way and galaxies. Borrow one of their cameras on the night. Masterclass details will be provided upon booking . The Masterclass venue is the Beaudesert Bowls Cluband the amazing nearby dark sky photography location will be at Wyaralong Dam, directions will be provided on the night. During this Masterclass, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to photograph the Milky Way and the night sky. You will also gain insights into composing your photographs in low-light conditions and discover techniques to produce clear, noise-free images. Additionally, you will explore the art of seamlessly capturing breathtaking panoramas and acquire valuable knowledge for planning your future night photography sessions. Furthermore, the Masterclass will cover mastering effective editing techniques using the Milky Way Masterclass Suite. Plus receive access to the Milky Way Masterclass Suite learning tutorials guides and the Facebook support group, David Magro Masterclass. Photographing the stars have never been easier.

October ArtLab | Children’s Clay Experience with Larissa WarrenWhat is clay? How did it get here? Where do we find it? Ceramic artist Larissa Warren, one of the six commissioned artists in Here and Now: Gold Coast Triennial, leads this very special hands-on ArtLab!Recommended ages: 6-16 years. Part 1: Demonstration Larissa will share how she processes the Gold Coast clays she uses in her art-making process and identify how local clays differ in colour, texture, organic composition and plasticity, from natural through to finished state. Part 2: Making We will then make pinch pots, coils and other mini sculptures using commercially available clays. We will contribute our created objects to a real-time raw clay installation on the Studio Terrace. Our collective raw clay installation will be left to naturally break down in the environment and return to the earth. NB. We strongly encourage attendees to wear clothes they can get dirty in and/or bring a change of clothes! Children under 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult or carer and cannot be left unsupervised at any time, thank you for your understanding. Adults don’t need to purchase a ticket as you are attending in a supervisory capacity.

Salsa in the Park
Salsa in the Park is an event open to everyone and it is free. It is held at The Porch in Broadwater Parklands, Southport. DJs will play a variety of latin music to keep everyone dancing. There will be a free dancing lesson, followed by two and a half hours of social dancing dancing, or sit, relax, watch and enjoy the music and dancers go about their pace.

Following lunch, head over to HOTA Gallery for informative talks and tours led by educators, centred around the ongoing exhibition program and works from the HOTA Collection. Experience an immersive educational journey, unlocking the wonders of the arts and the behind-the-scenes magic. Suitable for grade 3 to 12 and all arts subjects. Once you've booked, our team will work with you to tailor the tour to your subject areas. Places are limited.
