Scenic Rim Eat Local Month is a celebration of the food, produce and people of this fertile region of South East Queensland where much of our fresh produce is grown. There’s a host of foodie-focused events taking place across the month of June across the wineries, distilleries, accommodation providers and farms, from family friendly events and campfire cooking, to fine dining, cocktail making and paddock-to-plate experiences.

Areas of the Gold Coast Hinterland including Canungra, Tamborine Mountain and Beechmont are part of the Scenic Rim Eat Local celebrations, bringing together chefs, foodies and farmers together to enjoy local flavours and showcase the vast array of delicious products that are made here. It’s the perfect time to take a day trip, or plan a getaway and while you’re on the tasting trail, explore the stunning National Parks, hiking trails, waterfalls and attractions the Hinterland is famous for.

Beechmont Estate

Nestled among rolling green hills, this stunning Hinterland estate offers fine dining at onsite restaurant, The Paddock, luxury accommodation in the form of cabins with incredible views across the surrounding countryside. Beechmont Estate are hosting a number of decadent farm-to-table dining experiences for Scenic Rim Eat Local Month and if you want to make a weekend of it, book an accommodation package, which includes a two or three night stay and tickets to various events. 

The Paddock Sunset Banquet

Savour the flavours of the Scenic Rim, and gather around the centrepiece grill as The Paddock’s culinary team prepare a feast of local delights over the flames. The three-course meal at the Paddock Sunset Banquet will be expertly paired with local wines and you’ll dine as the sun sets over the Hinterland. Finish the evening with delicious desserts and toasting gourmet marshmallows under the stars.

High Tea in the Fields

Enjoy stunning sights and dainty bites at this special Hinterland high tea. Feast on a selection of carefully curated sweet and savoury local flavours at this afternoon of culinary delights, live music and lawn games.

Eat Local Market, Growers and Makers Day at Picnic Real Food Bar - North Stores 

If you like your produce plucked from the ground or tree mere hours before you eat it, then to market you must go. This market showcases Tamborine Mountain's freshest, local and seasonal produce. Savour a vibrant day filled with local growers, food artisans, stalls and live music. Bring your picnic blankets and empty eskies and indulge in a day of community spirit and culinary delights.

Longest Lunch at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard

This is a long lunch in more ways that one! Not only will you be sipping fine wine and enjoying culinary creations for three hours, but you’ll be seated at a table so long you’ll struggle to see both ends of it. Sink your feet into the cool grass and soak up the serene creekside setting as you tuck into the marvellous menu created by O’Reilly’s executive chef.  The meal includes a starter, two share platter courses, and dessert all made with fresh produce and locally sourced ingredients. Live music will be the perfect accompaniment to your feast on a sunny afternoon in this spectacular spot.

Tamborine Mountain Distillery

Perched on top of the mountain, this multi award-winning distillery (over 300 and counting!) looks like something out of an English fairytale. Inside the Elizabethan tudor-style building you’ll find everything from liqueurs, schnapps, vodka and gins created from an impressive variety of botanicals. Over the Scenic Rim Eat Local Month, you can attend a range of classes and workshops where you’ll learn how to craft your own signature spirits and liqueurs and mix some very tasty cocktails. The distillery’s expert guides will share insights into the rich history of spirits and liqueurs and the craft behind Tamborine Mountain Distillery’s award-winning range. And naturally a few tastings will be enjoyed too!

Witches Falls Winery 

Tacos and Tipples

Enjoy an afternoon of laid-back vibes and a fiesta of flavours courtesy of mouthwatering tacos by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Josue Lopez, and a diverse drink selection, including over 20 wines, craft beer, and hard ciders. With live music and local flavours, all set in Witches Falls picturesque vineyard, it's the perfect day out on Tamborine Mountain. Table bookings are two hours, but you can linger longer if you BYO picnic blanket and find a sunny spot among the vines.

Behind the Barrels

Join the team from Witches Falls Winery for a fun, insider's journey into the world of winemaking. Go behind the scenes with their passionate winemakers, explore their production process, and uncover the fascinating journey from grape to bottle. Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or a curious newcomer, Behind the Barrels promises to be both entertaining and enlightening. Chat with winemakers, ask questions and geek out on grapes with fellow lovers of a fine drop. (18+ only.)

Twilight Cocktail Masterclass at Cauldron Distillery

Fancy crafting your own cocktails and getting a behind-the-scenes peek at a working distillery at the same time? Then sign up for this event at Cauldron Distillery where the resident mixologist will share the secret to shaking, stirring and muddling the perfect cocktail, using premium ingredients and learning the history behind them. Stay a while either side, spread out a picnic rug and enjoy the scenery or lush meadows and vineyards alongside a refreshing beverage made with spirits brewed on site. That’s as local as you get!

Campfire Cookout and Nature-Play with Birdwings Forest School at Frost Farm

Bring the kids to this family-friendly event that celebrates and nurtures a connection with nature. It will be a fun morning of fire, fresh air and food that little ones will love, and carers too. Gather round the campfire for an unforgettable cookout experience where you’ll help prepare homemade delights like vegetable soup and damper using fresh produce from the Scenic Rim. While the food simmers, learn bush skills like whittling and weaving, deepening your family's connection to the great outdoors.

Feast in the Valley at Country Mile Escape

If you’re a meat eater, then this event is for you. Sink your teeth into a four-course meal made with locally grown beef and fresh produce while an expert butcher breaks down a side of beef, giving insights into meat cuts, cooking tips and the way the meat industry works. A unique culinary experience for carnivores!

Beef and Bonfire at Sarabah Estate

Light up your tastebuds and gather around the bonfire for a three-course feast under the stars. The delicious winter menu will warm your belly,  paired with Sarabah Estate’s signature wines and ports. Watch the shadows of surrounding mountains spread across the valley, and draw closer to the warmth of the bonfire as the heat fades with the daylight and the stars start to sparkle.
