The Gold Coast is giving perfect holiday destination in the new Get Up and Gold Coast campaign. Want to replicate it on your next visit? Follow in Alex’s footsteps to create an unforgettable holiday that showcases the best of this stunning city. With a variety of incredible experiences from our beloved beaches and Hinterland hikes to attractions, accommodation and activities, here’s a rundown on all the incredible locations featured in the shoot.
Active & Outdoors
Surf at Rainbow Bay
One of the southernmost beaches on the Gold Coast, this perfect little bay is flanked by Snapper Rocks to the south and Greenmount to the north. Sheltered from southerlies, Rainbow Bay produces perfect waves with the right swell and is a picturesque coastal oasis to swim or stroll the shoreline. The deck of Rainbow Bay Surf Club has got to be one of the best spots in the city for a sundowner.
A morning run in Broadbeach
The runners in our Get Up and Gold Coast campaign are pounding the pavement on the Gold Coast Oceanway in Broadbeach. This pedestrian and cycle path runs for 36km parallel to the coastline, connecting pristine beaches, shady parks and gorgeous ocean views. And there are plenty of al fresco cafes along the way too.
Bike Ride at Burleigh Heads
The Gold Coast Oceanway stretches south from Broadbeach down to Burleigh Heads and if there’s a more scenic beachside bike ride, we’ve yet to see it! Hop on your bike and head to one of the local surf clubs for lunch. Cruise along with the wind in your hair, a smile on your fac and the sun on your skin. A prime example of how we like to Get Up and Gold Coast. (Image: Tourism and Events Gold Coast)
Hike at Twin Falls
That jaw dropping waterfall featured in the campaign is Twin Falls, found in Springbrook National Park. You can experience the magic yourself by hiking the 4km Twin Falls Circuit which begins at a dramatic lookout, takes you down into the gully, through World-Heritage Listed rainforest and behind the cascading waterfalls.
Drink & Dine
Neptune Kiosk
Neptune Kiosk on the banks of Tallebudgera Creek is the cute hole-in-the-wall coffee spot where our main character, Alex, gets handed a coffee. A stone’s throw from the crystal clear water, gazing out over Burleigh Heads National Park, it’s the perfect place to stop for a brew with a view. The delicious array of baked goods and pastries make the perfect post-swim treat too.
Labart
In case you were wondering, “degustate” means to taste or savour something with appreciation. That’s exactly what you’ll be doing at Labart - a relaxed, Euro style, fine dining bistro tucked away at the top of James St in Burleigh Heads. The warm service and magnificent wine menu are definitely drawcards but the real hero here is the food. Think quality dishes, full of flavour created from local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients. Chef’s kiss!
Burleigh Pavilion
Pull up a seat with a cracking waterfront view at the open air terrace of Burleigh Pavilion. Watch surfers and sunset skies as you sip and snack on delicious casual dining. If you’re in the mood, stay until dark and dance the night away as the party vibes ramp up with resident DJs playing Thursday - Sunday.
