We are dedicated to engaging and empowering Queensland's brilliant students in a collaborative, world-class educational environment to realise their future potential.

Queensland Academies offers enrolment into Year 10 at Queensland Academies Health Sciences campus (QAHS) for highly capable students who are successful in our selective entry application process, to undertake the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program in Years 10–12.

The Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus is one of three state schools for highly-capable students in Years 10 to 12. The campus is located on the Gold Coast, Australia and is the only school within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct (GCHKP). This allows the Academy to provide unique opportunities and enrichment activities including working in partnership with Griffith University. Students are connected with professionals in the health sciences, research, science and academic industries, setting them up for success in their careers beyond the Academy. We focus on local and global perspectives to broaden students’ view of their place in the world.

Highlights

  • IB World School

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a global leader in international education—developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. Our programmes empower school-aged students to take ownership in their own learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a world that changes fast.

  • Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct Partnership and Enrichment

We are incredibly proud to be part of the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct (GCHKP), a precinct that has helped shape the Gold Coast into a nationally recognised centre for health, research, education and innovation. Over the past 25 years, the precinct has supported world class research, clinical innovation, talent development and the growth of new industries, all driven by collaboration and shared purpose.

This precinct has opened the door to meaningful real world learning opportunities, enabling past, current and future students to engage directly with research, industry and innovation, and to see pathways from education into impact.

  • CAS – Creativity, Activity and Service

Creativity, activity, service (CAS) is at the heart of the Diploma Programme. It is one of the three essential elements in every student's Diploma Programme experience. It involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies throughout the Diploma Programme. CAS enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development through experiential learning. The CAS component of the Diploma Programme challenges students to develop new skills, to learn more about themselves, and to make a difference in the communities in which they live and learn.
