Overview
A very adult comedy where the future of a town is decided by people who shouldn’t be trusted with a kettle.
Welcome to Jinnawarra, where heritage is sacred, community consultation is compulsory, and absolutely everyone has an opinion.
When a controversial proposal threatens the town’s beloved Oak Park, the sub-sub-committee of Wonderful & New Cultural Arts (W.&.N.C.A.) is thrust into a battle that quickly descends into chaos. Egos clash, alliances crumble, secrets emerge and council procedure becomes a weapon as an eccentric collection of local personalities fights to decide the town’s future.
Written by James Hall and directed by Jamie Watt, W.&.N.C.A. is a bold new Australian comedy packed with razor-sharp satire, outrageous characters and escalating absurdity. Taking aim at bureaucracy, local politics, community activism and the strange things people will do in the name of “the greater good”, it’s a fast-paced theatrical event where every meeting is a battlefield and every decision has consequences.
Because in Jinnawarra, saving the town has never been this hilariously dysfunctional.
