It’s true that we eat with our eyes and when you’re served a dish that’s visually appealing, it somehow tastes better too. Feed your phone first at these gorgeous Gold Coast restaurants where food, views and design combine for the ultimate dining experience.

La Luna

Sitting pretty in a stunning waterfront location on the Broadwater, with views of luxury vessels and the distant hills of the Hinterland, La Luna is a very aesthetic venue to say the least... especially at sunset. If you don’t tag your location when you dine here, your friends and followers might think you’ve jetted off to Mykonos. The interior features textured neutrals, draping greenery and white table cloths that really make the perfectly presented plates of modern Mediterranean cuisine really pop. Add a colourful cocktail or a backlit glass of bubbles and you’ve got the shot. The adjoining La Luna Beach Club offers plenty of photo opportunities too with a walkway across an azure blue swimming pool and a large scale glowing crescent moon sculpture to pose with. Perfection.

Siblings Kirra

Situated so close to the ocean you can taste the salt, Siblings Kirra boasts uninterrupted views of the beach which makes the perfect backdrop for some very fine dining... and your foodie photos. This venue hits the sweet spot between refined and casual with a pastel palette mint green, peach and terracotta. Bifold doors bring the outside in and the natural lighting is on point, as is the mouthwatering menu. With the perfect pairing of Mod Oz and fresh seafood, whichever dish you order is sure to taste as good as it looks. The drinks selection is so extensive it’s been called a Liquid Journey, and it's one you’ll want to take. A freshly shaken cocktail or a glass of wine from around the globe will make the perfect prop for your seaside selfie. (Image: Tourism and Events Queensland)

Palm Springs

Bringing the Californian vibes to Burleigh, Palm Springs is a visual delight, with a pebbled courtyard and cactus garden complementing the white stucco exterior. This bright and breezy venue serves up breakfast and lunch options with a delicious twist and a side of So-Cal style. If your appreciation for a well-constructed nourish bowl or breakfast burger holds as much significance as your love of pastel colour ways and plush seating then this is the venue for you. They serve cocktails as well as quality coffee so whatever kind of morning you’re having, you’ll get some good content at Palm Springs.

Rick Shores

Step straight off the sand of Burleigh Beach and be seated at a table so close to the ocean you can almost high five the surfers gliding past the wide open windows at Rick Shores. If gazing over the ocean while you’re grazing  on Pan-Asian perfection sounds like your idea of heaven, then roll right up. This iconic coastal location has dazzling views and a menu to match, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced produce made for sharing. Savour (and snap) share plates, banquets and bar snacks accompanied by an extensive wine list and coastal-inspired cocktails. Their fried bug roll has gained cult status and so has their reputation for one of the best restaurants in Queensland. (Feature image: Tourism and Events Queensland)

The Tropic

Get swept away with the stunning outlook, sea breezes and amazing flavours at The Tropic. It’s no exaggeration to say that this beloved dining spot perched on Burleigh Point has one of the best views on the Gold Coast, possibly in Australia. The gorgeous coast stretches out to the distant skyline of Surfers Paradise - the perfect background to a holiday selfie. The only thing that will distract you from gazing out across the Pacific to the horizon is the Mediterranean-inspired menu of succulent seafood and share plates, paired with delicious drinks. While the spice bread might not be the “prettiest” dish to feature on the ‘gram, it definitely warrants a starring role in your entree.

Kate Veling

Travel writer, Kate Veling, came to the Gold Coast for six months and loved it so much she’s still here 20 years later. The laidback lifestyle suits her to a tee and as a mum of three, she knows all the best parks, swimming spots and kid-friendly fun to be had in her ‘hood. She’s often found getting amongst the thriving local arts and culture scene, dancing to live music or kicking back on the beach, but rest assured it’s all in the name of research.
