Summary
There's a sense of space and calm at Mermaid Beach, thanks to its low-rise surroundings and the absence of high-rise towers. It's a favourite among locals for its laid-back vibe, offering a quieter alternative to the busier beaches nearby like Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. The beach is ideal for long walks, morning swims, and catching a few waves, with lifeguard patrols providing peace of mind for swimmers (Towers 24, 25 and 26).
Families, surfers, and beachgoers of all kinds enjoy the open feel and wide sandy foreshore. The beachside park is well-equipped with exercise equipment, toilets, BBQ areas and viewing platforms. Mermaid Beach Life Saving Club provides accessible beach matting and beach wheelchairs (contact the surf club directly for details and times)
Whether you're watching the sunrise over the Pacific, enjoying a picnic in the dunes, or simply soaking up the coastal atmosphere, Mermaid Beach delivers that classic Gold Coast beach experience — simple, scenic and chill.
