04 Apr 2021

Crave a good dessert fix every now and then? What better time to indulge than when on holidays? Easter holidays of course! To assist you on your search for the sweetest treat we’ve put together a chocolate lover’s guide to the Gold Coast. Happy hunting!

POPPY’S CHOCOLATE

With one of the most extensive ranges of chocolatey goodness in Australia, Poppy’s Chocolate is an essential stop off on your search for sweet treats. The Gold Coast’s answer to Willy Wonka, Poppy’s menu includes delicious delicacies like banana sundae chocolate, caramel chocolate coated macadamias, butterscotch truffle as well as gift boxes and elaborate chocolate creations in the shape of tool sets, smart phones and surfer dudes.

Visit Poppy’s Chocolate Factory in Beenleigh or stop past The Kitchens at Robina Town Centre to sample handmade chocolate, decadent desserts and their signature hot chocolate. There’s even vegan chocolate on tap!

MAX BRENNER

If you haven’t yet stepped in the doors of a Max Brenner, the store’s façade and chocolate-inspired, Willy Wonka-like interior will be sure to get your blood sugar levels racing. It’s even fit with oversized (and mesmerising) chocolate mixing vats and a mini gift shop to really get all the senses going.

From classic hot chocolates and fondues to Tutti Frutti Waffles for two, you won’t be disappointed. Visit Max’s Chocolate Bars in Surfers Paradise, Australia Fair and Robina Town Centre

OH MY, WAFFLE

Following on the waffle train, we can’t go past newcomer, Oh My, Waffle in Burleigh Heads. With a passion for dessert making, two Gold Coast locals and friends have created a delightful sweet escape just metres from the iconic Burleigh Heads Beach and James Street, in celebration of our sugar affair.

Dishing up a range of golden waffle variations like Alice in Waffleland, Blame it on the Berry! and Banana Bounty Hunter, along with a range of Crazy Shakes and sweet and savoury breakfast options (you guessed it, maple and crispy bacon), we guarantee you’ll have found your happy place.

PANCAKE DINER & PANCAKES IN PARADISE

Are pancakes your holy grail of desserts? Check out Pancake Diner in The Strand at Coolangatta in the City’s South. Emanating vibes from Cooly Rocks On and old school diners from the 1920s, this pancake powerhouse offers an all-round fun and affordable family dining experience.

Chocolate lovers of the young and young at heart can indulge in the Chocolate Juliette Pancakes – a stack of 2 chocolate pancakes, chocolate ice cream and chocolate fudge with whipped cream, sprinkled with tiny chocolate chunks. Traditional all you can eat pancakes are also just $10 per person, 7 days a week! #challengeaccepted

GUILTY CAFÉ

This hidden gem in Currumbin in the stuff of legends among those with a sweet tooth. The Crazy Shakes from Guilty Café taste as amazing as they look! While there are four fab flavours to choose from, chocolate lovers will want to try the Golden Gaytime Crazy Shake – a toffee/vanilla/honeycomb treat inspired by the favorite Aussie ice cream. There’s actually a whole one inside the shake!

BSKT CAFÉ

Located on Lavarack Road, in front of the patrolled beachfront at Nobby Beach, lies locals favourite BSKT Café. With great coffee and wholesome breakfast and lunch options, this chic-industrial style café is also home to the popular Cocowhip – a vegan & dairy-free ice cream made from all-natural coconut water, coconut oil and loads of other nutritious ingredients. It’s just like good ol’ soft-serve ice cream but minus the lactose and calories… it’s a yes from us.

The Vegan Protein Brownie with Cocowhip will surprise and delight, as will the Chocolate Fondant, Peach Cobbler with Cocowhip and Cocowhip and Acai, topped with seasonal fruits and salted caramel sauce.

Enjoy a long breakfast on-site or grab a bowl to-go and head down to Nobby Beach for some fun in the sun.

Whether you’re here for a short time or a long time, don’t go past these options for a (sugary) good time right here on the Gold Coast.

We’ll see you soon!
