5 UNIQUE WAYS TO SPEND VALENTINE’S DAY ON THE GOLD COAST

5 UNIQUE WAYS TO SPEND VALENTINE’S DAY ON THE GOLD COAST

04 Feb 2019

It’s that time of year again lovers and where better to celebrate Valentine’s Day than on the sparkly Gold Coast? That’s a rhetorical question, there’s nowhere better  Anyway, because we understand some people believe treating your loved one to a romantic dinner shouldn’t be reserved for one tiny little day of the year, and we tend to agree, but we also like celebrating love, we’ve got an idea…

Why not treat your date (Mum’s, mates and pooches also acceptable) to a little out-of-the-box experience that’ll make this Valentine’s Day one to remember? In honour of that, here are six somewhat unique date ideas, at some of the newest spots across the Coast, if this is the year you decide to change things up in the date department.

How does whacking some balls out into the ether at Top Golf sound? Maybe a mate date at Burleigh Heads newbie Rosella’s Bar is more your thing or, perhaps getting locked up with your beloved at Padlock’d sounds like a good idea. Whatever you’re into, we’ve got you covered with these out-of-the-box date ideas.

WHACK SOME BALLS

Yep, this is how it’s going to go. Top Golf opened on the Gold Coast in late 2018 and with it came a whole new experience for folks who don’t mind belting balls into oblivion while also knocking back frosty beverages, sampling tasty eats and generally having a cracking time. So everyone. Even if you’ve never swung a golf club before, Top Golf is the perfect date scenario for couples looking to have a laugh and get a little movement into their lives. Basically you stand on a podium high up in the sky (attached to a building) and hit golf balls at targets out in the ether. What a time. If you’re bad, it makes for a good story later in the relationship and, if you’re good, your date will no doubt be impressed. You’re welcome.

GO TO LOCKUP

Isn’t this fun. Did you know there are places in the world where you can choose to get locked in a room with people who must work together to solve clues and unchain one another from walls etc. to get out. How good. One such place is newbie Padlock’d in Surfers Paradise where said rooms are themed and you and your date can choose to be locked in together and use your problem-solving skills to bust out. There are two major benefits here, the first of which is, in order to be in a successful relationship couples must work together on the big issues (like being locked in a room) and the second of which is, if you don’t get chained to a wall together at least once in your life, are you even in a relationship? It’s a really fun time and you’ll be pretty stoked when you realise you were probably a spy in a former life. Highly recommend for V-Day.

DATE YA MATE

There is no country where a genuine (slightly over the top) love for your mates and the goodness they bring into your life is more revered than Australia and that is a thing that should be celebrated. On Valentine’s Day. Rosella’s Bar opened in Burleigh Heads not long ago and it’s an Aussie-inspired bar bringing absolutely epic cocktails, natural wines and the very best foods of your childhood (but classy) to the people. Think Vegemite jerky, toasties with a refined twist and prawn cocktails just to name a few. Where better to celebrate mate love than in an Australiana bar hey? Try the Ironman cocktail because it’s got a Nutri-Grain syrup situation happening and it’s really quite exceptional. As is everything at Rosella’s.

BUY A BABY

A plant baby friends. Not sure if you agree but plant purchasing can be a pretty fun time. Not to mention, if you’re in a semi or even a more-than-semi serious relationship but not quite ready to take the plunge into puppy purchasing or human growing, plants are where it’s at. You still have to keep them alive and they literally enhance your life (oxygen), while also being pretty and low maintenance. Same. Greenfolk in Burleigh Heads are the ones to visit on your plant purchasing date, they’ve got a stunning range of leafy greens, succulents and cacti and lots of locally made homewares and goodies to add to your collection. You get to take home a new babe and inhale plenty of fresh air while you’re at it. Best date ever.

GET BAKED

Last but certainly not least is the option of enjoying an early morning picnic by the banks of the river where baked goods are the name of the game. Not just any baked goods though, those of the Baked at Ancora variety AKA the best ones. The space opened just recently on the top side of the much-loved wedding venue and happy little punters have been pulling up a patch of grass nonstop every since. Load up on all the tasty things you can carry, roll out a blanket (or just sit at a table if that’s your thing) and watch the boats glide by while enjoying a balmy breeze. And the company of your love slash Mum slash mate of course. Breakfast dates are fun because there’s so much time left in the day for extra activities (and naps) and a belly full of baked goods equals a happy heart.
